Redeeming Mileage American Airlines (AA) Award Tickets

Eligible Routes
  American Airlines(AA) routes (includes American Eagle and American Connection)
* AA code-share flights not operated by American Airlines cannot be used for award travel.
* Some other sectors may not be eligible. Eligible sectors/routes are subject to change without notice.
* Upgrade awards are not available.

Required Mileage
Please refer to the "American Airlines(AA) Awards Tickets Chart".
Even if an award ticket will be used for one-way travel, round-trip mileage will be deducted.
  • * Awards issued for children and infants require the same mileage as those issued for adults.

Restricted Travel Dates for Awards
During 2006 and 2007 there are no restricted travel dates.
Restricted Travel Dates after January 2008 to be advised later.
The number of seats available for award travel maybe limited

Validity
The award ticket will be valid for 1 year from the date the mileage is deducted. (the date the ticket is issued.)

Conditions for Using Awards
Itineraries
All flights must be confirmed at the time of mileage redemption.
Travel must be round-trip. Direct flight or shortest transfer flight must be used for the travel between origin and destination or between above points and stopover points. When you return to the origin, the award travel will be completed. Other conditions apply as follows.
  • Single open-jaw is allowed at the origin or the destination only. Double open-jaw travel is not permitted. When 2 different award levels are involved in 1 round-trip journey, the higher award level will apply.
    * Transfer points may be restricted.

Permitted

The round-trip mileage for Dallas=Sao Paulo will be deducted.

Not Permitted
Double open-jaw is not permitted.

Class of Service
All travel must be in the same class of service. When two different classes of service are involved in one round-trip journey, the award level of higher class will apply.

Limit of Stopovers (a stay of more than 24 hours)
Restrictions may vary according to each zone. Please refer to the Notes on the "American Airlines (AA) Awards Tickets Chart".

Upgrading of award ticket
Award tickets cannot be upgraded by paying a fare differential.
