JAL Premium Economy Now Available For Sale On Chicago/Los Angeles – Tokyo Routes El Segundo, CA – August 10, 2009: Japan Airlines' American Region headquarters announced today that tickets are now available for sale in JAL Premium Economy between Chicago – Tokyo (JL009/010) and Los Angeles – Tokyo (JL061/062) for travel from October 25, 2009*. This date coincides with the carrier's expansion of its new Boeing 777-300ER four-class service to these transpacific routes. Located in its own exclusive cabin area, JAL Premium Economy features the award-winning JAL Sky Shell Seat, the world's first shell-shaped seat in premium economy class. A total of 46 seats arranged in a 2-4-2 configuration will be available. Offering 20% more legroom than economy class, the JAL Sky Shell Seat offers a 120 degree angle of recline, an 18.9-inch (48cm) seat width, and a 38-inch (97cm) seat pitch. The hard shell design, inspired by the carriers award-winning JAL Shell Flat Seat in business class, features a sliding seatback that ensures that every passengers private space is maintained throughout the flight, undisturbed even when the seat in front is reclined. JAL Sky Shell Seats are equipped with universal power outlets and feature extra-large seat trays particularly suitable for laptop usage. Amenities provided to customers in JAL Premium Economy are the same as in the carrier's business class including eye and moisture masks, toothbrush sets, slippers, extra-large blankets and pillows. Noise-cancelling headphones are also provided and passengers have access to over 130 channels of entertainment on individual 9-inch TV monitors. Dedicated check-in counters are available for JAL Premium Economy customers at Tokyo's Narita International Airport and customers may use JAL Executive Class counters in airports outside of Japan.
