JAL's new Narita lounge to offer beds, massage, pub, library and more

On April 18, Japan Airlines will open a new lounge facility -- the Sakura Lounge Annex -- on the fourth floor of Narita Airport Terminal 2 for special category passengers. It features a British pub-style bar, bedrooms for tired transit travelers, massage services, a business corner equipped with broadband wireless access for free Internet connection, a library and a theater-style audio-visual lounge.

Incorporating feedback from passengers and employees, the new lounge is focused on providing a more entertaining and relaxing atmosphere than conventional airport lounges.

With the capacity for some 340 guests, the 13,000-square-foot Sakura Lounge Annex can be used by JAL First and Executive Class -- Seasons (business class) passengers, those with full-fare Economy tickets (some routes excepted), JAL Global Club members and members of the JAL Mileage Bank holding 'Optimo' and 'Grande' service-category cards.

Features of the JAL Sakura Lounge Annex:
  • The Office (business corner): free high-speed wireless Internet connection plus dial-up service using modular jacks. PCs, fax machine, copy service.
  • The Bar: a traditional English-style pub offering a wide range of drinks including single-malt whiskeys and a wine selection.
  • Theater Room: equipped with a giant TV screen for news, sports events and DVD movies.
  • Library Corner: well stocked with travel and photo books and literature.
  • Executive Room: suitable for small group meetings
  • Relaxation Corner: massage chairs available plus professional masseuse for short treatments; private bedrooms for transit passengers; trouser-pressing service.
  • Ladies Powder Room: includes dressing room, lockers and baby beds.
