Restrictions on liquids, gels and aerosols as carry-on baggage
Dear Passenger
Thank you for flying Japan Airlines.
In accordance with the regulations legislated by each country, this restrictions described below are imposed on liquids, gels and aerosols carried on board aircraft departing from each country .
- * Liquids, gels and aerosols may be checked-in if they are securely packed to prevent damage. Passengers must pack them themselves.
It would be taken a longer time than usual to go through the security checkpoint, so come to the airport before enough time to the departure.
1 Applicable Flights
All flights departing from each country or city.
<International Flight Only>
Japan, East Asia, Vietnam, Australia, New Zealand, Indonesia, Brazil, Singapore, Malaysia, Dubai
<Both International Flight and Domestic flights(Within EU region Flights)>
EU countries(*1), United Kingdom, USA, Canada, India, Philippines, Hong Kong, Thailand, Russia
- *1 EU Counrties are
Austria, Belgium, Cyprus, Czech, Croatia, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece,
Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands,
Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden
And in Norway, Iceland and Switzerland are also applicable
2 Restrictions
(1)All liquids, gels and aerosols must be contained in individual containers no greater than 100 ml. in capacity.
- * Containers exceeding 100 ml. in capacity are not allowed even if the content is less than 100 ml.)
- * Examples: Water, Juice, Toothpaste, Hair gel, Mascara, Spray etc.
- * 1ml is 1g(0.034oz), although solid objects may have a different density to fluid ones.
(2)They must be put in a transparent re-sealable plastic bag which maximum capacity is one liter.
- * Containers that do not fit into the bag will not be allowed to be carried on board.
(3)Only one bag per passenger may be carried on board. The bag must be transparent and re-sealable plastic bags or bags with pressable seals.
- * Please show the plastic bag at the security checkpoint separately from other carry-on baggage, such as jackets, coats or electric products, for example, laptop computers. Jackets, coats and laptop computers will be screened by X-ray.
<Medicine, baby milk/food etc.>
- * The minimum necessary amount of liquid medicine, baby milk/food and other special dietary products required for the flight may be carried on board by declaring the goods to the security agent. (You may be asked to present copy of the prescription, take the medice, or such.)
<Duty free items>
- * You can still buy liquid, gel and aerosol duty free items such as water, juice and liquor in the departure area after passing through the security checkpoint .But if you have connection flight, refer "3" described below.
<The screening>
- * The judgment on whether the item can be brought onboard or not is at the discretion of the screening staff.
- * This rule is subject to change without notice.
3 For passengers who have connection flight
This rule is also applicable for connecting passsengers at these country described in "1".
Connecting passengers should line up the transit security check with 2(1)(2)(3).Passegers shoud put such duty free liquids bought in departure country or in flight in a transparent re-sealable plastic bag without any packages. If not fit 2(1)(2)(3) , these must be confiscated at transit security point.
(The receipt is also necessary to show at the security check point on the airport in China for passenger who have connection flights via continent of China.)
- * For Duty free items purchased
Duty free liquids, aerosols, and gels over 100ml are allowed to carry into the cabin upon connection through some airports with conditions below.(International Flight to International Flight Connection Only in Japanese Airports)
a) Liquids, aerosols, gels packed in specially sealed duty free bag (ICAO, Security Tamper Evident Bag) that has not been opened.
b) The receipt of the purchase needs to be attached to the sealed bag (or maybe asked to show the receipt.)

...When making another connection outside of EU airports, please be informed that the rules of those airports will be applied.
For passenger who depart from continent of China on domestic flights
For passengers who depart from continent of China on domestic flights, this restriction described above is not applicable but another restriction described below is applicable.
Civil Aviation Administration of continent of China announced to introduce the enhanced security rules regarding liquids that passengers can carry into the cabin of all domestic flights departing from China.
All liquids are not allowed to carry into the cabin in principle.
All liquids may be checked-in if they are securely packed to prevent damage.
<Liquid cosmetics>
- * Only one cosmetic per passenger should be permitted. But it must be contained in individual containers no greater than 100 ml. in capacity.
Its cosmetic must be put in a transparent re-sealable plastic bag, and it is allowed after opening inspection at the security check.
<Duty free items>
- * For passengers who have connection domestic flights departing from continent of China, duty free liquids bought in departure country should be sealed up by a transparent plastic bag.
Additionally, passenger must present the receipt for its duty free liquids, and it is allowed after opening inspection at the security check.
<Baby milk/food>
- * Please ask your airline's office for baby milk/food in advance.
<Liquid medicine>
- * Medicine is allowed after opening inspection at the security check, and it is kept by crew in cabin.
- * Even if passengers break this restriction described above and miss the flight, airline can accept non responsibility in such case.
