How to apply for an India tourist visa

Application process for a tourist visa depends on your nationality, purpose of travel and length of stay.

Getting a tourist VISA by pre-online application (ETA/e-Visa) (Overview)

After applying, please print out a VISA ETA (Electronic Travel Authorization) sheet and bring it with you when you check in at the airport.
The purpose of visit is limited to "Tourism, Short term business (Meetings, Business meetings, etc.), Disease treatment." You can only stay for as long as the visa you obtained is valid.
At the time of application, your passport must be valid for at least six months,and have at least two blank pages.

ETA/e-VISA

Please check the website of the Embassy of India, Japan for the applicable nationality to apply for a tourist VISA on arrival (VOA).

Please complete the application form in advance to your check-in at the airport.
The purpose of visit is limited to "Tourism, Short term business (Meetings, Business meetings, etc.), Disease treatment." within 60days.
(Not applicable to long-term residents, those seeking employment/work, and spouses or family members)
Upon arrival in India, your passport must be valid for at least six months.
Application of visas on arrival (VOA) with the application form is available in ; Delhi, Bengaluru, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata and Hyderabad.
Payment will be done at the arrival airport.

If you are refused to enter India, the immigration authorities will order you to return to the original port of departure.

In this case, you will be responsible for the cost of the ticket according to the conditions of carriage.
