Transfers

Terminal map

Transfer diagram for connections between Japan Airlines and your connecting airline For transfers from Japan Airlines (JL) flights on Delta Air Lines, and West Jet, use the skybridge on the 4th floor of Terminal E and head to the 3rd floor of Terminal A. 
For transfers from Japan Airlines (JL) flights on JetBlue Airways, follow the sidewalk along the taxi stand from the 1st floor of Terminal E and head to Terminal C. 
For transfers from Japan Airlines (JL) to American Airlines, follow the sidewalk along the taxi stand from the 2nd floor of Terminal C and head to Terminal B. 
For transfers from Japan Airlines (JL) to Air Canada and American Airlines, use the skybridge from the 3rd floor of Terminal A and head to Terminal B. You can also transfer between terminals by using the airport shuttle bus. Take the No. 11 bus. The bus stops in the order of Terminals A, B, C, and E.  (It takes 15 minutes to reach Terminal B)

Passengers transferring to oneworld member airlines

The following oneworld member airlines are found at GENERAL EDWARD LAWRENCE LOGAN INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT:

  • American Airlines (AA)
  • British Airways (BA)
  • Iberia (IB)

Boarding pass

  • Japan Airlines (JL) passengers connecting onto oneworld member airline flights should receive a boarding pass for the oneworld member airline flight upon departure from Japan. (*)
  • If you do not have your connecting boarding pass, please proceed to the departure terminal for your connecting flight and carry out the check-in procedure at the connecting airline's check-in counter.
  • *Passengers connecting between JAL ⇔ oneworld flights (including oneworld and JAL codeshare flights), will be issued a boarding pass for their connecting flight on departure. However, system issues can sometimes mean that the connecting boarding pass cannot be issued. In this event, you will need to carry out check-in procedures again at the connecting airport.

Checked baggage (Re-check)

Regardless of whether your final destination is within the US or abroad, all passengers must go through a customs inspection when entering the United States.
Even if "final destination" is stamped on the baggage tag you were given when you checked your baggage at your departure point, you are still required to collect your baggage here and proceed through Customs.
The baggage collected for the customs inspection can be deposited again at Baggage Drop Off.

  • After completing the customs inspection, please exit the Customs area and proceed to the Baggage Drop Off counter on the left-hand side.
  • Please show your airline ticket or boarding pass and re-check your baggage.

Moving between terminals

Japan Airlines (JL) flights arrive at Terminal E.

Transfers to American Airlines (AA)

To reach Terminal B, the terminal used by American Airlines, please take the airport shuttle buses No.11. The time required is around 10 minutes by buses.

It should take around 10 minutes by the airport shuttle buses No.11.
British Airways (BA), Iberia (IB) These airlines depart from the same terminal as Japan Airlines (Terminal E), so just take the elevator or escalator from the arrivals floor to the departures floor on level 3.

Terraces / First Lounge After Security in Terminal E, take the elevator in front of gate E11 and proceed to level 4.
  • *In order to use a oneworld member airline lounge, you need to show a oneworld membership card with "elite status".
    (If you are unable to present the card, you will not be admitted to the lounge.)

Passengers transferring from oneworld member airlines to Japan Airlines

Boarding pass

Passengers transferring from oneworld member airlines (mainly American Airlines / American Eagle (AA) at General Edward Lawrence Logan International Airport) to Japan Airlines should receive a boarding pass for flight JL007 at the departure airport.

  • IMPORTANT

    Even if you have a boarding pass for flight JL007, you may be called by a staff member at the counter or departure gate prior to boarding in order to confirm your identity, or check your passport and travel document details.

  • *Passengers connecting between JAL ⇔ oneworld flights (including oneworld and JAL codeshare flights), will be issued a boarding pass for their connecting flight on departure.
    However, system issues can sometimes mean that the connecting boarding pass cannot be issued.
    In this event, you will need to carry out check-in procedures again at the connecting airport.

Checked baggage

If you are connecting from an airport within the United States or Canada and you checked your baggage through to your final destination at your departure point, you do not need to collect your baggage at General Edward Lawrence Logan International Airport.

Lounge

BA Lounge

There is a BA Lounge at General Edward Lawrence Logan International Airport. Proceed through Security, and then take the elevator in front of gate E11 and proceed to level 4.
