On the 1st floor, there are International Flight transit counters.

Arrival regulations

Immigration

Please complete your immigration card before arrival.
All food and medicine must be declared. You must declare all food items, both processed and unprocessed.

Please present your passport and immigration card at Immigration. When your entry visa has been checked, your passport and immigration card will be returned to you.

  • IMPORTANT
    • Japanese citizens are required to hold an entry visa. An entry visa is not required if you are connecting with an international flight that departs within 8 hours; however, you must be in possession of a pre-booked flight ticket and immigration documents for your destination country, and you are not permitted to leave the departures lobby.
    • Japanese citizens and citizens of other eligible nationalities* who are in possession of an ePassport (IC passport) and are aged 16 years or above are permitted to self-process through the arrivals SmartGate.

Customs

There is no priority lane for customs screening upon arrival in Australia.

If you have answered more than one "yes" on the immigration card, please proceed to red "Declare" sign and follow the instruction from custom inspector.All other passengers are to proceed to green "Not Declare" sign.

Please present your immigration card to a customs official.

If you are not required to undergo a Quarantine check, your immigration card will not be returned to you.

If you are required to pass through Quarantine, the customs official will direct you to a Quarantine lane number.

Quarantine

You are only required to undergo a Quarantine check if you have been asked to do so at Customs.

The customs official will return your immigration card, which you are to take to the lane number you have been allocated.

Your belongings will be X-rayed or opened and searched.

Quarantine (Animals And Plants)

You are not permitted to bring in meat, eggs, fruits, vegetables, or dairy products.

Pets

Prior reservation is necessary if you wish to bring your pet, as the transportation environment within the aircraft needs to be prepared.

Please also be sure to check with the embassy or quarantine station at your destination for animal quarantine information such as import restrictions and required documentation.

Other Information

The entire terminal building is non-smoking. Please be aware that anybody found smoking may be subjected to a penalty fine.

Flights operated by JAL will depart from Terminal 1.

Terminal 1

On the 2nd floor, there are check-in counters, toilets and elevators.Once you pass through immigration screening and security, there are elevators, toilets, TRS TAX Refund counters and  stairs/escalators to the 3rd floor. On the 3rd floor, there are Qantas First Lounge and Quntas Club Lounge.

Departure regulations

Check-in

Check-in opens 3 hours prior to departure.

Please present your passport, ticket and other travel documents at the counter in order to receive your boarding pass.

  • IMPORTANT
    • Regardless of the free baggage allowance provided by the airline, each piece of checked baggage must weigh no more than a maximum of 32kg.

Immigration

  • IMPORTANT
    • Please present your passport and boarding pass to an official.
    • The departures SmartGate may be used by all passengers of 120cm or taller, regardless of their nationality or whether they are in possession of an ePassport (IC passport).)

Customs

After you have passed through Immigration, the receipts attached to your duty-free purchases will be collected by the official. Please refrain from opening the bag containing your duty-free items before this point. (If the bag is opened, you will be subjected to a penalty fine.)

GST refunds
Items eligible for GST refund
  1. Items purchased in the same store for A$300 or more within 60 days of departure.
  2. No refunds can be given for hotel or service charges.
  3. It is not necessary for the items to be fully packed.
How to request a GST refund

Please present your tax invoice, purchased goods, passport, and boarding pass to the official at the GST counter.

Refund method

Only credit card refunds be provided. Cash refunds cannot be provided. Refunds can be made up to 90 minutes before departure.

Security check

Your carry-on baggage will be checked in an X-ray machine after you have passed through Immigration.
