We accept Class J or First Class upgrade on the departure day at the airport if seats are available.

Requesting a Depature dates upgrade

Upgrade requests are available on the JAL website and through the JAL app.

If no empty seats are available, you will be added to the waitlist.

Below cities inculude multiple airports and charges are the same regradless of the departing airport.

  • Tokyo - Haneda and Narita
  • Osaka - Itami and Kansai and Kobe
  • Sapporo - New Chitose and Okadama
  • Nagoya - Chubu and Komaki

Notice

  • Upgrades are only available for booked and purchased flights.(If you wish to upgrade to a different flight, please change your booking first before requesting the upgrade.Fare rules determine whether bookings can be changed.)
  • Upgrade requests via the JAL website and JAL app, upgrade charge must be paid for with a credit card.
  • If Class J or First Class is fully booked, we will accept standby requests. Once a standby seat becomes available, your booking will automatically be changed to the waiting class, including seat assignment. (The seat will be assigend automatically.)
  • You can check the number of standby passengers in real time online.
  • To cancel Upgrade Standby, please go to the confirmation screen on the website.
    (You cannot cancel a standby all upgrade procedures have been completed. Please tell the airport staff.)
  • Details of your application and further information are provided on the standby confirmation page, in the email upon completion of the application, and on the JAL app.
  • To receive notifications via the JAL app, you need to turn on the notification settings for both the JAL app and your device.
    If you do not receive notifications despite having the notification settings turned on, please delete the JAL app from your device and reinstall it from the app store.
