Departure date upgrade

Notice

From flights on February 20, 2025, the handling of Airport Standby and Departure date upgrade standby applications made online will change.
Please update the JAL app to the latest version and use it from February 20 onwards.

・We will notify you of the standby results via email and JAL app notification 15 to 20 minutes before departure.
・Customers who applied online can board directly using the boarding barcode on the JAL app without stopping by the Standby counter
(Depending on the application details and seat availability, you may be required to stop by the Stnadby counter.)
・For JMB members, once a seat is available through the upgrade standby, the payment process will be automatically completed online.
(Non-JMB members are required to make the payment at the standby counter.)

We accept Class J or First Class upgrade on the departure day at the airport if seats are available.

Requesting a Depature dates upgrade

Upgrade requests are available on the JAL website and through the JAL app.

If no empty seats are available, you will be added to the waitlist.

Notice

Upgrades are only available for booked and purchased flights.(If you wish to upgrade to a different flight, please change your booking first before requesting the upgrade.Fare rules determine whether bookings can be changed.)
Upgrade requests via the JAL website and JAL app, upgrade charge must be paid for with a credit card.
If you are on the upgrade waitlist and a seat becomes available, you will be called to a service counter at the airport.Please be at the designated location at least 20 minutes before the flight’s departure time.
