About international flight ticket purchase on JAL website (Terms of Use for International Flight Ticket Purchase)

Notice

Passengers who purchase a flight ticket on the JAL website will receive a confirmation e-mail or an "e-ticket itinerary/receipt" e-mail. In rare cases, these e-mails may not be delivered depending on the user's e-mail setting. If you do not receive an e-mail from JAL within 2 days after your ticket purchase on the JAL website, please contact us by phone.

Who can purchase flight tickets?

Flight ticket purchase applications are accepted from customers who fall under ALL of 1 to 2 below.

  1. The flight ticket to be purchased on JAL website must be in the name of the person in the booking
  2. The person making the purchase must have an e-mail address
  • The flight tickets of travel companions in the same booking can be purchased together.

However, bookings that fall under the following cannot be purchased on JAL website. Please contact us (JAL International Reservation and Information) for your request.

  • When an infant or a child travels unaccompanied*1
  • When purchasing a Child Fare for an infant occupying a seat
  • When a passenger requires more than one seat, etc.
  1. Flight tickets for infants who will be accompanied by an adult (above 12 years old) traveling in the same class of service on all flights in the itinerary can be purchased on JAL website following booking by phone.
    When an infant or a child does not travel in the same aircraft or class of service as an adult for at least one flight segment of a trip, the trip is considered to be without an adult. (This includes situations in which the adult uses an award ticket and a ticket is purchased for the infant or child.)

Notice : Reservations booked at the reservation center or the city/airport counter cannot be purchased and ticketed on JAL website
Purchasing / ticketing is available with ticketing service fee at the reservation center or the city/airport counter.  Also, change, cancel, and refund cannot be accepted on JAL website, but they are available with ticketing service fee at the reservation center or the city/airport counter.

Which itineraries can be purchased?

Itineraries that fall under ALL of 1 to 3 below can be purchased on JAL website.

  1. The itinerary was booked on JAL website
  2. The major international flight segments of the itinerary are consist of JAL Group flights
  3. The itinerary starts from Japan
  • Notices
  • Some bookings that include flights upgraded with JMB awards cannot be purchased.
  • Ticket remaining open and without an itinerary cannot be booked and purchased.
  • Itineraries originating outside Japan cannot be purchased.
  • To comply with the U.S. transportation rules, for itineraries from the U.S. to the U.S. (including Hawaii and Guam) via Japan (*), at least one international flight is required to be operated by a U.S. carrier.

  • Including itineraries regarded as "via Japan" by the U.S. authorities.
  • Even if an itinerary falls under 1 to 3 above, it may not be possible to purchase for reasons such as the system being unable to perform automatic fare calculation. To purchase itineraries originating from Japan that is not available on JAL website, please contact us (JAL International Reservation and Information). Itineraries originating outside Japan can be booked and purchased by accessing to JAL's worldwide websites. Please note that JMB member login information is not transferable to from Japan region to the worldwide sites.
  • Fares that cannot be purchased on JAL website can be purchased below.

Purchase deadline

  • Please complete the purchase application procedure by the following deadline.
    If your reservation includes the flights other than JAL group, please purchase your tickets before 17:30 on the day of ticketing time limit shown above.Day of ticketing time limit may be earlier due to operating carriers’ regulation. (In such case, JAL will contact customers, but recommends you to purchase your tickets in advance)
  • Please avoid making purchase applications close to the deadline as they may not be completed in time for reasons that include delayed responses.

  1. Purchase must be made by 14:00 on the day prior to travel start if the first flight of the itinerary departs in the morning from an airport other than Tokyo (Haneda), Tokyo (Narita), Nagoya (Chubu) or Osaka (Kansai) airport.

Payment method

  • JAL coupons and gift certificates cannot be used.
  • e JAL Points can be used only by the logged in JMB member or the JMB member's spouse and relatives within the second degree of kinship.
  • Miles cannot be converted to e JAL Points in the middle of a purchase, so please convert them before you start your purchase.
  • If you wish to pay with JAL Travel Coupons, please complete the procedure on JAL website for booking only. The purchase procedure can be done through our call center. Please contact us (JAL International Reservation and Information) after completing the online booking procedure.

After ticket purchase, before receiving your flight ticket

For customers who pay by credit card
  1. Select the Purchase button to complete the purchase and display the Purchase Completion page.
  2. A confirmation e-mail and an e-ticket itinerary/receipt e-mail will be delivered to your e-mail address.
  • In some cases, we may contact you by phone to confirm details of your request. Appreciate your understanding in advance.
  • E-mail transmission and e-ticket delivery may be delayed due to various circumstances.

How to receive the flight ticket

E-mail or JAL website

The e-ticket itinerary/receipt will be sent by e-mail to the specified e-mail address. Print out the e-ticket itinerary/receipt and present it when checking in at the airport. The e-ticket/itinerary may also be retrieved and printed out from JAL website as well.

Receipt issuance

A receipt is available upon request.

Changes and cancellations after purchase

Once the Purchase Completion page is displayed, the ticket purchase is completed.

Changes

Changes to tickets that have been purchased may not be allowed depending on the fare regulations. Even if fare regulations allow a change, handling fees may apply and payment of any price difference may be required. Reservation change can be made on JAL website. (Some changes can be made only through JAL call center).

Cancellations

Cancellations after purchase are subject to a cancellation or refund charge. Bookings can be canceled and refunded on JAL website.

Other notices

  • Please be sure to read the "Conditions of Carriage for International Passengers" before booking, payment and boarding.
  • Tickets are non-transferable. The name on the ticket cannot be changed after issuance.
    If the passenger changes, please make a new reservation under the name of the passenger who will be boarding the aircraft. Additionally, tickets are only valid in the class of service in which they were purchased, so even if it is an acquaintance or family member, it is not possible to change seats across classes.
  • Tickets must be used in the correct sequence shown in the itinerary.
  • If the flight segments of the itinerary are not used in the correct sequence or there are unused segments, the remaining segments of the itinerary may no longer be valid and usable depending on the fare regulations.
  • Some countries require a minimum time period remaining on a visa or passport for entry. Passengers are responsible for confirming the requirements for the countries of their travel in advance.
  • Passengers traveling to the U.S.
    Some passengers are required to apply for Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA).
