Enjoy Your Time at Fukuoka Airport

Traveling to Fukuoka? Take the time to explore all that their airport has to offer.

Explore Fukuoka Airport

With planes serving both international and local flights, Fukuoka Airport is one of Japan’s busiest airports. It is also close to the city center—just five minutes away from Hakata Station—and easily accessible for those traveling back and forth.

Two terminals—international and domestic

Fukuoka Airport has two terminals, a domestic and an international one. The international terminal serves several major airlines and has regular flights to Shanghai, Taipei, Seoul, Singapore, and several other destinations. The domestic terminal serves almost every major Japanese carrier.

How to board domestic flights

Fukuoka Airport’s domestic terminal is near Hakata Station (two subway stops, five minutes) and Tenjin Station (five stops, 12 minutes). You can easily hop onto the respective train at each station, which will take you to the airport.

How to board international flights

While the international terminal of Fukuoka Airport is not directly accessible by subway, you can take the Nishitetsu Bus at Hakata Station and ride to the international airport. You can also take the subway from Hakata Station to the domestic terminal and then take the free shuttle bus between the domestic and international terminals.

How to board transferring flights

If you’ve got a flight to Fukuoka and are making domestic or international transfers, you’ll need to move to the appropriate terminal building. You can use the free shuttle bus that travels between the two terminals. The travel time is approximately 15 minutes (maybe longer, depending on traffic conditions), so be sure to give yourself a lot of lead time so you do not miss your flight.
