Reefer container types
Electric type (active)
A thermostat and battery installed type of container for both Heat and Cool.
With the electricity charged at aboveground facility, the container provides strict temperature control while transportation.
- *available for plus temperature
Dry Ice type (active)
The electric fan powered by batteries will rotate dry-ice-cooled air through the container. This is the only type which can provide "freezer" transportation.
Coolant type (passive)
Maintains the temperature by using the Heat absorbing/radiation effect of Phase Change Material.
Since it does not use electricity, there are no risks for breakdown as long as the coolants keeps its effectiveness.
JAL original container (CC5,CC20) is this type of solution!
Cover type (passive)
A thermal cover using heat insulation material.
Prevents becoming frozen or over heated, and provides easy and reasonable service at normal temperatures.
- *active... often powered by electricity and/or battery to control the temperature
- *passive...often using gel packs or other types of phase change materials in order to maintain the desired temperature.

From Japan: Up to three business days (except Sat, Sun and holidays) prior to scheduled flight departure time
From overseas: Up to five business days (except Sat, Sun and holidays) prior to scheduled flight departure time
Please let us know your desired transportation temperature, carry-in and delivery time, etc.
*Preparation of Air Waybill (AWB)
Please use JAL (131-) AWB.
Please print "J TEMP°" in the handling information column.
Acceptance
120 minutes prior to scheduled flight departure.
Delivery
Ready for AWB/other documents pick up, and customs declaration within 120 to 180 minutes after flight arrival.
- *The cargo delivery time may differ at some airports depending on business hours of Customs Offices.
- *The cut-off time for the cargo acceptance and the delivery time may depend each airport's service standard.

FAQ
- What would be the temperature, humidity conditions during flight?
- Generally, temperatures vary depending on the types of aircraft or the loading position, but it is possible to maintain the temperature around 20℃ (or 68F) with conditioned air.
Humidity can not be controlled during flight.
Air pressure will be decreased to around 0.8 atm during flight. - What are the applicable routes and schedule?
